In the fall of 2009 I began experiencing severe abdominal pain which eventually led to a 20lb weight drop in less than two months. I was ill, but I didn’t have the slightest clue what was wrong with me. I humbly broke from my stubbornness and visited the doctor. After several visits and a colonoscopy, I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis (a chronic illness in the colon). Fortunately, I was told my illness could be maintained with a simple prescription requiring me to take three pills three times a day. Yes, that’s right; I swallowed nine pills every day. The doctors claimed they were unsure of the cause and that the safest plan of action would be to take the drugs and anticipate a relapse in the future.
I was disappointed with the thought of having a chronic illness that apparently had no cause and required me to be on drugs for the remainder of my life. I began to wonder if this was the only way. I believe God designed our bodies with the potential to be much healthier, however we sometimes fail to recognize our responsibility to care for the body that has been entrusted to us. I certainly wasn’t acting as a faithful steward of my body and I was suffering because of it.
By the grace of God I have been free from medication since April of 2012 and I have not experienced any relapses since my initial diagnoses in 2009. Why? Because I significantly altered my nutrition and yielded my stressful anxieties over to God. What a blessing! I can only hope for my clients to experience a similar victory of their own health failures!
I have considered it a privilege to assist several individuals of all ages achieve significant improvements in their health, including: fat loss, muscle gain, balance, and core strength. But an even greater delight has been passing on the illuminating benefits of a healthy diet, a spiritual joy and contentment in life.
